From the 20th to the 25th of February 2018 the biggest kitesurfing resort of Dakhla
(Morocco) – Dakhla Attitude – is venue for the qualification competitions of the Youth
Olympic Games where kitesurfing will take place for the first time as an Olympic discipline.
The resulting winners of the category “Boardercross“ compete against each other from the
6th to the 18th of October 2018 in the Youth Olympic Summer Games in Buenos Aires.

The qualifications at Dakhla Attitude occur for young people from the years 2000 – 2003, with all in
all 56 boys and 56 girls from Europe and Africa who compete against each other for 5 days. The
IKA (International Kiteboarding Association) and the Association Lagon Dakhla act as organizers
of the competitions.

Kitesurfing combines wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing and paragliding into an exciting
discipline where you will be drawn across the water with a specially designed kite and board that
looks similar like a surfboard. This mix not only leads to very fast speed on the water, but also to
immense flight times. With “Boardercross” a special distance has to be covered and to the same
time, the participants have to jump over several obstacles. The winners of each gender will compete
in the Youth Olympic Summer Games in Buenos Aires.

Due to its high wind resistance and perfect kitesurfing conditions, the venue Dakhla Attitude has
become more and more famous in the last years. The official sponsor and host, is the first hotel that
combines water sports, conservation and sustainability. Here the participants spend the night
directly at the lagoon and only have to take one step out of their apartment to get to the competition
spot. In addition to the competitions, the organizers also offer a large event village in which various
projects take place, such as an art exhibition, kitesurfing lessons, projects with local children and
environmental education.

For representatives of the press and media Dakhla Attitude offers various packages for on-site
